One of the reasons that national, state and regional parks were only nominally affected by social shutdowns is that it's fairly easy to maintain pandemic distancing on a trail (believe it or not, there is 15 feet between Brian and John, who are safely clear of Stephanie by 7 feet apiece). Because a mask can obstruct oxygen intake (especially on hills), Bay Area parks don't require one for hikers, but our in-house rules dictate that Hills & Hops hikers have one on their person (preferably around the neck) in order to respond to hikers outside our group who may be less vigilant about proper distancing.
At the dawn of 2020, Hills & Hops biggest goal was to expand the pick-up network for guests of our Marin partner hotels. But local Covid-19 protocols laid waste to those plans seemingly overnight. While wholesale hotel pick-ups are on hold until the pandemic subsides, we can offer most clients in need of transportation low-cost options to the trailheads featured on our Marin Hikes & Pricing page. Just ask!
We're proud of the dozens of brewpubs throughout the 9-county Bay Area that partnered with Hills & Hops over the years to provide a VIP experience for all of our thirsty, trail-weary clients. Nowhere is that partnership network stronger than in Marin County. As of September 2020, many have reopened with limited outdoor seating. So while the "& Hops" part of our moniker is no longer etched in stone, we'll do our best to arrange a post-hike brewpub option on all of our hikes . . . so long as local mandates permit!
